Join the research effort in HIV

Our HIV programme spans prevention, long-acting treatment and cure-directed research. Studies are designed with and for the communities most affected, because research that does not reach those communities does not answer the question.

Our research

What are we studying?

Learn more about our areas of research and see whether one of our clinical trials might be right for you.

HIV prevention

  • It is possible to prevent HIV transmission, and participants are helping test how far that can be pushed.
  • Long-acting options matter most for people for whom a daily tablet is not realistic — which is a question about lives, not about adherence.
  • Explore our prevention studies to see whether you may be eligible.

HIV treatment and cure-directed research

  • Millions of people live long, healthy lives with HIV, but the work is not finished while treatment still means something taken every day for life.
  • Treatment studies test regimens given weekly, monthly or less often.
  • Cure-directed research asks whether the virus can be controlled without ongoing treatment at all.
